HBS Fuels – LPG Safety Notice & Emergency Procedures for HBS Fuels customers

Gas Leak

In the event of a suspected gas leak from an LPG tank, pipework, or cylinders:

  • Immediately contact HBS Fuels Emergency Number Monday – Friday 01264 860263 afterhours & Weekends 07827 623 627
  • Turn off all gas-powered appliances and naked flames
  • Shut off the gas supply at the tank or cylinder service valve, only if safe to do so
  • If the leak is inside a building or property, isolate the emergency shut-off valve located outside the premises, where applicable
  • Open all doors and windows to increase ventilation
  • Do not use electrical switches, mobile phones, naked flames, or ignition sources near the affected area
  • Evacuate the area if necessary and keep people away until safe

Gas Supply Failure

If your LPG gas supply has failed:

  • Check the tank or cylinder content gauge
  • If the tank or cylinder is empty, contact HBS Fuels to arrange a refill or replacement : 01264 860263
  • If gas is still present but supply has failed:
    • Turn off all gas appliances
    • Contact your gas safe engineer immediately or Contact HBS Fuels for advise.
    • A competent engineer may be required to inspect and reset the pressure shut-off system
  • Do not attempt repairs or adjustments yourself

Fire Emergency

In the event of fire involving or near LPG storage:

  • Call 999 or 112 immediately and inform the Fire & Rescue Service that LPG is stored onsite
  • Turn off all gas-powered appliances
  • Shut off the LPG supply at the tank or cylinder service valve, only if safe to do so
  • Evacuate the property or site immediately
  • Move to a safe distance and remain upwind of the fire, smoke, or vapours
  • Keep all persons clear of the area
  • Do not re-enter the site until authorised by emergency services

Emergency Reminder

LPG is highly flammable and heavier than air. In the event of a leak, vapours may collect in low-lying areas, drains, or confined spaces. Always treat LPG incidents as potentially hazardous and follow emergency procedures immediately.
